Outreach
“Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justice, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.” From Rabbi Rami Shapiro’s interpretive translation in Wisdom of the Jewish Sages of Rabbi Tarfon, Pirke Avot 2:20 of the Talmud
Efforts at serving others sponsored by the Ministry of Christian Witness and Service and others.
Ongoing outreach efforts include:
Habitat for Humanity on Russett Road
A project in the nearby Russett Road area has begun. They will be needing volunteers on selected Saturdays through May 2010. Also, if anyone would rather work a Friday, email Sally Allen and she will try to arrange this with the habitat volunteer coordinator.
The workdays begin around 8:15am with a short prayer and assignments given for the day, and run until around 3:30pm. Please email (saralynn1033@yahoo.com) or call (836-3007) Sally Allen with the day you would like to work. Volunteers will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. If we have enough interest, we might be able to take on another Saturday in December.
Farmer’s Market
ORUCC hosts a weekly Farmer’s Market in our parking lot to support area farmers. Open through October from 3-6:30 p.m.
Travel to El Salvador to work with Habitat for Humanity
In 2007 and 2008, ORUCC combined with Good Shepherd and Madison Mennonite churches and took work crews to the Dominican Republic to build homes for Habitat for Humanity.
From March 27-April3, 17 youth and adults from ORUCC and First United Methodist will be traveling to San Salvador.

3. Nicaragua – Wisconsin Partnership. Every 2nd Sunday of the month we take a special offering for those celebrating that month. These funds support our longstanding participation in the Wisconsin Nicaragua Partnership in its effort to encourage and foster economic development in Nicaragua.
