From September 2008 through February 2009, we had an 18-week sermon series titled “Packing our Biblical Backpack: The Essential Stories.” It was a journey through the 18 most important stories of the Bible. “The Stories of our Lives” was created as a companion to that series. Cheryl and Pat have edited digital stories from Tim Johnson, Pam Oliver and Laurie Irwin as they reflect on how certain biblical stories intersect, inform, and guide their own lives. In June, 2005, the High School youth of ORUCC went to Philadelphia to work with the New Jerusalem Now. While there, the High School group worked with members of local artists and NJN members to create the Peace Garden at the corner of W. Norris and 19th.

My family and I want to offer our sincere thanks to all you who co-conspired to surprise me with a 10th anniversary “Boyd Bash” last Sunday. I was indeed surprised, but even more importantly, I was humbled and honored by the affection and warm sentiments. We were deeply touched by the generous gifts, the amazingly tasty lunch, the fun music, the many cards, the delightful video, and the overall spirit of joy. I will relish the day for weeks to come. I must also affirm that serving this congregation has been and continues to be a great joy in my life. I deeply appreciate the spirit of care, the spirit of adventure, and the spirit of openness that exists here. I look forward to developing even more exciting aspects of church life that come from a long pastorate.
