We have reserved a week for us at Mission on the Bay in Bay St. Louis, MS for next summer’s mission trip for all students finishing 8th-12th grade. (We traveled there last summer too!)
The next step is fundraising. The trip will cost approximately $12,000. We can have up to 30 people come on the trip. If your child is interested in participating, please attend the fundraising meeting after worship on Sunday, November 9. Both youth and parents are asked to come to the meeting. I would like all families to help organize at least one fundraising event (not including Bratfest). What I envision is a team of families taking on one fundraiser and seeing it through from start to finish. At our meeting, we need to decide on what those fundraisers will be and when we will have them. Some ideas the youth had were a book sale, pizza sale, Sub sandwich sale on Super Bowl Sunday, some kind of game night.
PLEASE COME WITH YOUR IDEAS AND CALENDARS TO THE NOVEMBER 9 MEETING.
If you have questions, please contact Tammy Martens at tmartens@orucc.org or 271-7212.

These are stories we should know by heart– not by rote, but by heart. While we probably won’t memorize these stories, it is possible for us to know them so well that we carry them with us through the day or week of our lives. Continue Reading »

The Welcome and Homily offered by Winton Boyd at the funeral of Daniel Myers on Monday, September 1.
WELCOME
Not a single person here could have anticipated nor expected this service so soon in Daniel’s life. It is not a service any of us would have chosen. Nothing shakes our universe as much as the death of a young person, the death of one’s child. Nothing prepares those of you who are teenagers or twenty somethings for this reality. Nothing about this seems right or fair. Continue Reading »

The Leadership Team has called for a congregational meeting on June 22 immediately following worship for the purpose of approving the creation of a half time Associate Pastor for Congregational Ministry, and the authorization of the Leadership Team to form a search committee for that purpose. Details of the proposed position being proposed will be posted soon. If you have questions, please contact John Lemke or Winton Boyd.
