Leadership Team update, November 2009
The Leadership Team has been busy! We continue to be excited as we hear from the FIT team about proposed plans to update and reconfigure our space to better meet the needs identified by the results of the Next Generation Initiative. We have also examined the proposals by two companies who would like to advise us as we run a Capital Funds Campaign. We will bring our recommendations to the congregations in the near future.
We’ve done other things also! We were pleased to accept Mission and Goal statements from both Winton Boyd and Tammy Martens. They both have great plans for working with our congregation and with our outreach efforts. Ken is developing his statement and will present it soon.
The congregation continues to be active also. It seems like there is extra focused energy everywhere! Ongoing programs like Over 55, the music groups, quilters, mission trips for both adults and youth, Christian education for all ages and more continue with renewed energy. And, a quick look back on my part remembers these new starts in 2009: the Community Garden, the Farmers’ Market, Habitat for Humanity’s condo on Russett Road, an additional classroom for our children’s Sunday School, an expanded music program for the children, seasonal retreats, movie discussion group meetings, the meditation room, the Urban Immersion Experience for adults, a Liturgical Arts Mission Team, Tuesday evening sessions and Liturgical Dance. I’ve probably omitted things, so add to this list as you reflect on the past year!
Yes, we’re growing. Our membership is increasing, and our enthusiasm and dedication is creating many more ways “to walk in the ways of God, known or to be made known to us.”
Peace
