Ken’s Pennings

As Associate Pastor of Congregational Life, one of my primary objectives is to help strengthen the life of each and every small group connected with the church.

In order to do that, I’m thinking that it is best for me to visit all the groups of ORUCC at least once, if not two or three times, so that I can get personally acquainted with the members of your group, understand who you are, what you’re trying to do, where you want to go, and what you need. The heart of ministry is relationship, and I want to build a personal relationship with you and your group, and help any way I can.
When I visit our groups, I’m asking myself, “Who are the people in the group? What are their gifts? What do they see as the mission, vision, purpose and potential of the group? Are the group dynamics positive and life-giving? Can more people from inside or from outside of ORUCC be brought into the group in one way or another? Can the group be a means of increasing the larger witness and involvement of ORUCC in the community, state, nation and world? Is there anything I can offer that will help it reach its potential?”

Bottom line, Small Group Participants and Leaders, I’m here for you! I’m willing to do whatever it takes for you to have a positive experience with your small group, build deeper and more meaningful relationships with others in your group, and to grow spiritually.

And if you, Dear Reader, haven’t yet connected with one or more of the small groups of ORUCC because nothing seems right for you, let’s talk! Please let me know what kind of group you’re looking for. Chances are, others are looking for exactly the same kind of group. We can create a new group that is exactly right for YOU!

Maybe I’m idealistic, but I feel strongly that everyone who is looking for genuine community ought to be able to find it in and through her own church! We have so many incredibly wonderful gifts to offer one other. Let’s share them through our small group ministries!
