Hope
Here’s what I’ve decided: the very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof. What I want is so simple I almost can’t say it: elementary kindness. Enough to eat, enough to go around. The possibility that kids might one day grow up to be neither the destroyers nor the destroyed. That’s about it. Right now I’m living in that hope, running down its hallways and touching the walls on both sides. I can’t tell you how good it feels.

Leadership Team – April 2009
We’re a busy congregation! At our meeting Tuesday night we were delighted to learn that plans for our community garden—Veggie Village—are proceeding quickly. Many thanks go to the Christian Witness and Service Ministry and the Resources Ministry for the help they have given the very hard working Garden Mission team. In addition, we will offer our parking lot for a Wednesday afternoon Farmer’s Market beginning on June 3rd. This market is sponsored by local neighbors and farmers. Once again, the Ministries of Christian Witness and Service and Resources have been involved with the planning.
Before we came to the meeting, Leadership Team members filled out a questionnaire forcing us to think about how welcoming our church is to visitors. This is an important topic for us to consider as we work to ‘grow’ our church. We only had time for a short discussion, but we will revisit this topic.
In other business, we regretfully accepted the resignation of Al Joranlien as church treasurer. Doug Hendrix has volunteered to be an interim treasurer.
