Who Receives Compassion Offerings?

You may wonder how the church decides who should receive the compassion offerings that are collected during Sunday worship services. You may also wonder whether there is a way to have input on which groups are considered.
Christian Witness and Service is the ministry that designates an organization to receive the compassion offering each month. We have recently prepared a flyer that describes the criteria we use in choosing recipient organizations; it also describes how you can let us know about an organization you think appropriate for consideration.
Flyers are available in the literature racks near both entrances. Look for the sunny yellow leaflets.

Some of you know that last Thanksgiving, I was playing a friendly game of touch football with my extended family and neighbors, as we have done for 2-3 years. As with most family games, we are much better in our imaginations than we are in reality – and what we lack in talent, we make up for with noise, bluster, bragging, and even taunting. I should have known it was a mistake to try to defend a college age guy when he went out for a long and deep pass.
